How to Play ZaaWea

1. Movement

Each shape can move as many spaces as it has angles minus one.
For example, a triangle with 3 angles can move up to 2 spaces, while a square with 4 angles can move up to 3 spaces.

2. Merging

Two shapes of the same type and color can merge to form a new shape with one more angle. For example:

  • Two triangles merge to form a square (4 angles).
  • Two squares merge to form a hexagon (6 angles).
  • Two hexagons merge to form an octagon (8 angles).

3. Combat

Shapes battle based on angles:

  • The shape with the smallest angle wins when their angles face each other.
  • Angles always beat flat surfaces. If a shape's angle attacks another shape’s surface, the angle wins.
  • If two shapes with equal angles face each other (e.g., two triangles), the shape that attacks first wins.

4. Winning Conditions

Merging Two Octagons (Optional):
A player wins the game by merging two octagons of the same color. Once two octagons merge, the player who successfully merges them is declared the winner.
How it happens: Octagons merge when one octagon moves onto another octagon of the same color. This action represents completing the maximum shape possible in the game.

Losing All Octagons (Loss by Elimination) or Check:
A player loses the game if they no longer have any octagons left on the board.
How it happens: Octagons can be eliminated through combat, meaning a player must carefully defend their octagons. If a player loses their last octagon, the other player automatically wins.
